As part of ongoing adjustments to DCM rates, the following changes will take place starting October 2026. A subsidy is available to help PIs manage the increase in costs.
Starting Thursday, October 1, 2026:
Labs that require hard wood chip bedding for rodent cages will be charged a different per diem rate than those with the paper-based bedding.
Work performed outside of normal business hours (7AM to 5PM) will incur a premium labor surcharge.
Extending a scheduled procedure past originally scheduled time will incur an unplanned labor overage surcharge.
Starting Monday, October 5, 2026:
The deadline for ordering animals to arrive the following week will move from Wednesdays at noon to Tuesday end of the day (11:59 PM EST). Orders received after this time will incur a late order charge.
Technical service charges, including colony management charges, have not changed.
In some cases, freezing back rodent lines rather than breeding can help lower costs. If you are interested in this option, please get in touch with your DCM team to discuss.
